During the home inspection, evidence of rot or water damage was detected at the railings or guardrails.
This is an issue of safety, as guardrails may not be able to withstand pressure if they are weakened by rot
or water damage.
Recommendation: A qualified contractor should ensure that guardrails are in good condition and repair
them as needed.

Moderate Defect, Deferred Maintenance

At the time of the inspection, the components of the deck showed moderate weathering and
deterioration. It was observed that the decking boards had become rotted and deteriorated.
Recommendation: Rotting boards on the deck should be replaced immediately and any future
replacements should be done until the deck is completely rebuilt. The deck should have routine
maintenance performed on a regular schedule including water sealant/weatherproofing application.
Recommendation
Contact a qualified deck contractor.
