About Your Tax Bill
The contents of your real estate tax bill are prescribed by Ohio law. Only one parcel of property can be included on a bill. Failure to receive a tax
bill does not excuse failure to pay or delay to pay any taxes, special assessments, or other charges shown on such bill or avoid any penalty,
interest or charge for such delay, pursuant to ORC 323.13. For a full explanation of the elements of the tax bill visit the “Pay Your Taxes” page on
our website at cuyahogacounty.gov/treasury/pay-your-taxes and click on the “Understanding Your Tax Bill” link.
Interest and penalties. Interest is charged against delinquent taxes twice each year: in September against all prior year taxes, and in December
against all remaining unpaid taxes as of December 1st. Taxes not paid within 10 days of the due date will be assessed an additional 10% late
penalty.

Payment Options
In-person. The Cuyahoga County Treasurer’s Office accepts in-office payments by cash, check, money order, and credit/debit cards (fees apply)
during regular office hours. Payments by check/money order also accepted in-person at Cuyahoga County Auto Title and Key Bank locations.
By mail. Check/money order preferred. Our office discourages cash payments by mail, and does not accept credit/debit card payments by mail.
Online and phone. Taxpayers wishing to pay by electronic check (fee free) or credit/debit card (fees apply) may do so by visiting our website or by
calling 877-738-1212 and following the provided instructions. All convenience fees are retained by the payment vendor and not received by the office.
EasyPay monthly payment plans. The Treasurer’s Office offers a tax pre-payment program to simplify the payment process using a monthly
installment plan called EasyPay. Please visit cuyahogacounty.gov/treasury/pay-your-taxes/easypay for details.
Delinquent payment contracts. Taxpayers who have fallen behind on their payments may establish a contract payment plan with our office to
spread their delinquent tax burden over a manageable period. Payment plans do not mitigate or alter the taxpayer’s responsibility to make
payment on current taxes. Please contact the Treasurer’s Office for details at 216-443-7420 or cuyahogacounty.gov/treasury/delinquency.

Required Notices
Notice: If taxes are not paid within sixty days from the date they are certified delinquent, the property is subject to foreclosure for tax delinquency.
Notice: If the taxes charged against this parcel have been reduced by the owner occupancy credit but the property is not a residence occupied by
the owner, the owner must notify the Fiscal Officer no later than March 31st of the year following the year for which taxes are due. Failure to do so
may result in the owner being convicted of a fourth-degree misdemeanor, which is punishable by imprisonment up to 30 days, a fine up to $250, or
both, and in the owner having to repay the amount by which the taxes were erroneously or illegally reduced, plus any interest that may apply. If the
taxes charged against this parcel have not been reduced by the owner occupancy credit and the parcel includes a residence occupied by the
owner, the parcel may qualify for the tax reduction. For an application or further information, please contact the Fiscal Officer at 216-443-7400.
Notice: If the parcel associated with this bill is a residential rental property and the owner has not submitted contact information to the Fiscal
Officer that information must be submitted within sixty days of receipt of this bill. Failure to file may result in a penalty. Additional information is
available online at cuyahogacounty.gov/fiscal-officer and via phone at 216-443-7010.
